ICT System vs. ICT Software

This is not an ICT System. Why? It does not have a user.

ICT System vs. ICT Software

ICT SYSTEM

>> a system that uses any form of digital technology to input and process data and output the information which goes directly to a human or to another system.
>> consists of hardware, software, data, and users.

 ICT SOFTWARE

>> programs and related information used to run a computer
>> collection of instructions that can be run on the computer
>> tell the computer what to do

What's the Difference?

It's simple. ICT Software is just a part of an ICT System.

Technology of Information

Technology of Information

...or is it?

Some people may define Information Technology simply as the technology of information. Is it really just that?

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

     >>the technology of the production, storage, and communication of information using computers and microelectronics.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

     >> refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications.

HOW DOES DATA BECOME INFORMATION?

1. INPUT (entering data into the computer or other device)

2. PROCESS (manipulating the data into information that is understandable to the user)

3. OUTPUT (presenting the information to the user; it must have a context. It could be printed, displayed, heard or in another form)

4. FEEDBACK (it might be used to affect another input into the same system or a different system)

This is actually a cyclical process. The feedback may lead to another input.
