The Amazing Thing Called "Computer"

The Amazing Thing Called "Computer"

A COMPUTER is a data processing machine that manipulates symbols that represent information.

Its amazing how a single computer unit can perform a lot of tasks in a single second. It can process a lot of data even with just a single click of a button. And take ths, a computer does all that with unbelievable speed, accuracy, and consistency.

  • SPEED
    • It can calculate billions of equations in less than a second, even with the billions of people that are using computers all over the world.
  • ACCURACY
    • It provides accurate accurate or correct answers to our questions, even if you check other sources.
    • Its accuracy depends on the input of the user. A computer doesn't have its own mind. It depends on the user to enter the proper information.
  •  CONSISTENCY
    • When you look up certain topics and look for other sources, the results may be the same, maybe not exactly, but at least in some terms or in meaning.

Its true that a computer is a remarkable machine. But we should remember that it also has limitations. There are some things that a computer can do but a human cannot, but there are also a lot of things that a human can do that a computer cannot. Despite the big help of computers in our lives, let us not forget the other more important things in life.

What Makes ComSci Easier

What Makes ComSci Easier For Us...

What makes a subject worth waiting for?

Madam Carmen

For me, its the teacher.

My Computer Teacher in SRA was a female and we like her very much because she's kind and she's a very fun teacher. But since she's very kind, many of my classmates would abuse her kindness, the "mabait-man-yan-si-ma'am" type of attitude, and because of that reasoning, there are times they would take Ma'am Carmen for granted and ignore her. Sometimes, when she's in the classroom, some of my classmates would just make noise and act like she's just one of our classmates. For me, a good teacher knows how to control her class. She may joke at times but she must also know how to make the proper timing. There's always time for everything, and everything has its time, right?

On the other hand, I also find my Pisay ComSci teacher exciting. there are times he cracks jokes during class when he notices that the class seems sleepy. At first, I was surprised to hear his voice but later on, I became well adjusted with him and I started to like ComSci. He is a good teacher also because aside from being young, he was a Pisay graduate and can therefore relate with our experiences in school and he knows what to teach us because he had gone though what we are going through now. Although he may sometimes get strict, he seems so sure of his profession and he also tells us stories of his student life at times, inspiring us to work better and to take our studies seriously.

Teachers can bring about a student's hidden talents and skills. Although we see our teachers today as villains, there will come a time that we will thank them for pushing us beyond our limitations and for allowing us to see the best in us.

Pisay ComSci

Computer Science: Pisay Version

In Saint Raphael Academy, where I once studied, Computer Science is simply computer without science. Well, am I not surprised. I have entered a Science High School, where everything has a touch of science. Sometimes I ask myself what kind of mess have I gotten myself into. I'm not a science whiz and definitely NOT a computer genius.

Computer Science in Pisay is a big deal. Unlike in SRA, where all we do is play games and learn the parts of Microsoft Word, Excel, Spreadsheet, etc. In Pisay, we also learn about all those stuff but they make it more complicated and elaborate the topics more. I can say ComSci in Pisay is more fun because it's very challenging and we do a lot of tests in order to show our teacher that we learn from him.

Something I also noticed in Pisay's Computer Lab was that they don't have any computer sharing issues and their computers are well-kept and modernized. As you can see in the picture, our computers are not the same. Some have flat screen monitors while others do not. Despite being in a private school, we still have some problems that cannot be resolved due to lack of funds. Some students have to share computers to have grades since they do not have a fixed number of students. But here in Pisay, since they only have 30 students per class, they know the exact number of needs for each room or subject.

But despite those problems, I'm still proud that I had been a Raphaelite.
